Easy Homemade Moisturizing Mask Recipes
During the winter months (here in the northern hemisphere, at least), it can be difficult to keep your skin hydrated. And we’ve tried it all. Guzzling bottles of water (and running to the bathroom constantly). Our most hydrating night cream…during the DAY. It’s hard to get the hydration you need in this weather! But there’s one fool proof way to treat your skin: a homemade moisturizing mask. And you don’t even have to leave your home! Or break the bank! Most of these easy recipes use things you’ll already have in your pantry. Or that you can pick up for cheap at most grocery stores! Read on to find a perfect homemade moisturizing mask for your skin!
Raw Honey Hydrating Mask
This homemade moisturizing mask would be excellent for those people who have dry skin that’s also prone to breakouts. Mix together ½ a smashed banana with 3 tbsp of raw honey (local is always best!) and 3 tbsp of plain Greek yogurt. The banana hydrates, and so does the lactic acid in the yogurt! Meanwhile, honey adds even more moisture while also controlling breakouts with antibacterial properties! Leave this mixture on your face for 15 minutes and then rinse with cool water to reveal soft, glowing skin!
Gentle Hydrating Face Mask
This homemade moisturizing mask is extra gentle for those with sensitive skin. Mix together ½ c. raw ground oatmeal, ½ c. water, ½ c. whole milk, and 1 tbsp honey. Again, the lactic acid in the milk will help to hydrate the skin. Meanwhile, oatmeal and honey are incredibly soothing for even the most sensitive faces! The oats in this mask would also make it a great choice for those who have dry, red skin.
Hydrating Green Tea Mask
Looking for a little antioxidant boost in your homemade moisturizing mask? Look no further than this mask! Mix together 1 Tbsp. of matcha powder, 1 tsp. of raw honey (again, local if possible), and 2 tsp. of aloe vera gel. The matcha should help to rejuvenate and tighten your skin, while the honey and aloe vera soothe and hydrate! So you’ll have firm, smooth, supple skin! Everyone will want to know what your secret is! And you can tell them that you made it yourself at home! Even better? Get an aloe plant and you can ALWAYS have fresh aloe gel on hand! They’re an easy to take care of house plant that will even help to purify the air in your home!
Soothing Spirulina Mask
This homemade moisturizing mask contains many of the same ingredients as our other masks, with a fun superfood twist! You’ll see honey and aloe in lots of DIY hydrating mask recipes, because they’re so great for hydrating the skin and they’re affordable and accessible! That makes them a perfect place to start for this superfood mask! Start with ½ Tbsp. each of local honey and aloe vera gel. Then mix in 1 tsp. of spirulina powder. Spirulina is full of antioxidants and helps to smooth and exfoliate the skin while the aloe and honey get to work hydrating!
You’re armed with the knowledge! Now go forth and enjoy dewy, bright skin with your homemade moisturizing mask!
